Catalog Description:
Seth Thomas, "Dayton", ca 1886, one of the 100 plus models of the series of clocks that Seth Thomas made popular. This clock came to us as a "Toledo" model which is more commonly seen. The "Dayton" is very rare, this maybe only the second one I have ever seen. A date stamp on the back of the case is "1889". 8 day, cathedral gong strike, replaced paper dial, full black label, correct pendulum, clock is running. There is a door on the base of this model. The latch needed repair which should have been an easy fix, but some mechanical engineer installed a magnet latch. Ly-Seth ThomasNo.187.
